How To Create A Google Ads Account (If You Don't Have One)

Google Ads Account

Just in case you do not have a Google Ads account yet, you can head on to Google Ads to sign up.

When creating a Google Ads account, you have the option to create your account in Smart Mode or Expert Mode.

By default, Google Ads will ask you to create your account in Smart Mode. But you can still switch to Expert Mode.

The main difference between Smart Mode and Expert Mode is their ability to create a campaign at the onset of account creation.

With Smart Mode, you also have to create your first campaign during account creation. But with Expert Mode, you can sign up for an account without creating a campaign at the start.

The downside of immediately choosing Expert Mode though is its inability to revert back to Smart Mode.

Google Ads Account in Smart Mode

Here are the steps to create a Google Ads Account in Smart Mode.

1. Go to Google Ads

Go to Google Ads and sign in to your existing Google account or create a new one. If you already have a Google account, simply enter your Google email address and password, then, click “Sign in”.

If you want to use a different email address, click “Create an account” at the bottom of the screen and just follow the instructions to confirm your new Google account.

2. Create your first campaign

When creating your first campaign, you need to set up the following:

✓ Campaign goal

✓ Business name and website

✓ Ad (including headlines, descriptions, and a phone number)

✓ Keyword themes

✓ Location settings

✓ Budget

3. Set up your billing information

Click the “Billing Country” dropdown menu and select the territory where your billing address is located. Make sure the correct time zone is selected as your reports, statistics, and billing are all affected by the time zone that you select. Simply click the dropdown menu to change the time zone.

If you have a promotional code or coupons or vouchers, enter the code in the “Introductory offer” and click “Apply”.

You will then be prompted to either select an existing payment profile or create a new one.

Your “Account type” defaults to “Organization” but you can change to “Individual” if appropriate.

Enter the payment method you want to use such as credit or debit card, Paypal, or bank account.

Google Ads Account in Expert Mode

Here are the steps to create a Google Ads Account in Expert Mode.

1. Go to Google Ads

Since Google Ads account setup defaults to Smart Mode, the initial step is the same.

You can use your existing Google account or create a new one. If you already have a Google account, simply enter your email address and password to sign in. If you do not have a Google account yet, choose “Create an account” at the bottom of the page instead, then, follow the instructions to confirm your new Google account.

2. Switch to Expert Mode

In order to change to Expert Mode, eventually, you will need to choose “Switch to Expert Mode” located somewhere at the bottom of the screen.

3. Choose whether to create an account with or without a campaign

To create an account WITH a campaign, set up the following information before clicking Submit to create your campaign and complete your account setup.

✓ Campaign goal

✓ Campaign type

✓ Campaign settings and features

✓ Ad group

✓ Ad

✓ Billing and payment method

To skip campaign creation, you simply need to choose “Create an account without a campaign. Confirm your business information including the billing country, time zone, and currency. Then, click Submit to complete your account setup.

That’s it and you already have your Google Ads account.
