How to Apply for SSS Calamity Loan in the Philippines 2020

Are you an SSS member? Are you affected by the recent changes in your workplace due to the Covid19 Pandemic? Do you need financial assistance? It's time to tap SSS for a calamity loan.

SSS Calamity Loan Application 

SSS calamity loan application only takes 10 minutes. You just need a computer or a mobile phone and an internet connection. Here's how to apply through your My.SSS account.

1. Log in to your SSS online account.

2. Go to E-SERVICES.

3. Choose "Apply for Calamity Loan".

4. Review your contact information and see if some information needs an update.

If there are changes to be made, then update by clicking the "click here" link.

5. Choose your loan amount from the dropdown box.

You can choose your max loan amount or a lower amount depending on your needs.

6. Choose your bank.

Take note that SSS no longer issue checks for loan disbursements. You either get a UBP Quick Card or you enroll your own bank account to SSS.

If you have not registered your bank account to the SSS website, you may simply go to the bank enrolment section and add your bank information.

7. Choose your current employer.

If your current employer is not updated in the SSS system yet, notify your employer to make the necessary changes. Else, no one will approve your calamity loan.

Remember that employed SSS members need the approval of the employer for any loan application.

8. Tick the box labeled "I agree to the Terms and Conditions".

To get a better understanding of your loan application, it would be best to read the Terms and Conditions.

9. Click the "Proceed" button. You will then be shown of the "Disclosure Statement on Loan".

10. Click another "Proceed" button below the statement.

11. Review the promissory note. Then click the "Submit" button to finalize.

You will immediately receive a confirmation once your loan application is successful.

In order to be eligible for the calamity loan, you need to have at least six (6) posted contributions for the last 12 months.

How To Get GCash Mastercard

If you've been doing online transactions, you probably have considered getting a bank card to connect it to your Paypal, Payoneer, and Transferwise accounts in order to receive money from abroad or to use to pay merchants online who only accept payments via Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Paypal.

While you can go to the bank to open a savings account or apply for a debit card, you can actually get a GCash Mastercard at an affordable price, if you're already a fully verified GCash user.

The GCash Mastercard only costs Php150 which is way better than having to deposit Php3000-Php5000 to the bank to open a new account.

What's more? You don't have to prepare many documents. You don't have to go to the bank and fall in line. 

Most importantly, you can order a maximum of 3 cards per mobile number, in case you want to use different cards for shopping online, for receiving a salary and for sending money to others.

Getting GCash Mastercard is definitely easy and convenient.

But how and where can you get a GCash Mastercard?

How To Get a GCash Mastercard

There are actually two (2) ways to get a GCash Mastercard.

The first way is to buy GCash Mastercard via GCash partner branches.

The second way is to buy via the GCash app and have it delivered to your doorstep.

Pick Up GCash Mastercard

If you need the GCash Mastercard right away, you can choose to buy it from their partner branches.

You just need to inform the cashier that you would like to purchase the GCash Mastercard and pay Php150.

Once you have the card, you can then link it to your GCash account by following the instructions provided in the welcome kit.

Here are the following GCash partner branches where you can buy the GCash Mastercard:

  • 7-Eleven
  • Ministop
  • Lawson
  • All Day Supermarket
  • All Day Convenience Store

Take note though that product availability may vary per branch and deliveries may be affected due to the Community Quarantine implemented in other areas.

Buy GCash Mastercard Via GCash App

GCash Mastercard

Buying the GCash Mastercard through the app is so easy.

1. Log in to your account

2. Click on "Pay Bills"

3. Go to "Payment Solutions"

4. Then choose GCash Mastercard

5. Enter payment details and note down your 10-digit reference number

6. Once you've done making your payment, go to Fund Management

7. Click "Cash Out"

8. Hit DELIVER button

9. Complete GCash Mastercard Order Form and enter delivery details

That's it! So fast and easy.

Just make sure to double-check the information entered to ensure the card will be delivered to the right address.

The standard delivery time of the card is 10 working days upon confirmation of payment which will be posted within 3 business days.

However, for out of coverage areas, you may need to pick up the card to the nearest LBC branch.

Alternatively, you can also get GCash American Express Virtual Card to use in your online purchases.

How to Get GCash Amex Virtual Card

In case you only need a card to shop online and not use it to withdraw money from ATMs, then, you can opt to get GCash American Express Virtual Card instead.

1. Log in to your GCash app

2. Click on "Show More"

3. Go to "Lifestyle & Shopping"

4. Click "Pay Online"

5. Choose "Pay with American Express Virtual Pay"

You will then see your GCash Virtual Card with your own Card No. 

To get security code or CVV, just click the GET NEW CODE button.

Linking Your GCash Mastercard

Once you received your GCash Mastercard, activate the card by linking it to your account through the GCash app.

1. Log in to your GCash account

2. Tap the "Hamburger" icon or the 3 horizontal lines on the top left portion

3. Click "My Linked Accounts"

4. Choose "GCash Mastercard"

5. Tap LINK CARD button

6. Enter the 16-digit card number

7. Click "Link Card" button again

Once your card has been successfully linked to your GCash account, you will immediately receive a confirmation that the GCash Mastercard linking is successful and you will also see the word ACTIVE beside your card number.

If you're not a fully-verified GCash user yet, you can simply have your account verified by providing a National ID or any valid ID. It will only take a few minutes and is free of charge.

If you don't have a GCash account, you can simply download the app from the play store, create an account and have it verified the same day.

Take note that GCash verification can only be done from 9 am to 5 pm.
